A tour of some of Scotland's most iconic castles and filming locations of the hit show Outlander is an unforgettable experience for any fan of the show and traveller alike.
The tour includes visits to some of the most significant castles in Scotland, such as Blackness, Doune and Midhope. For lunch we will take you to the picturesque Culross, a village on the coast that has been used as a backdrop for the popular TV show. Here you will enjoy some free time to experience the local cuisine and stroll through the narrow-cobbled streets.

TOUR ITINERARY
Our tour starts with a visit to Midhope Castle. Located on the wider Hopetoun Estate it is the location for the fictional Lallybroch. The exterior of this 15th century beauty is relatively intact while the inside is unfortunately in a derelict state.
Our journey will continue with a visit to the nearby Blackness Castle, a stronghold dominating the Firth of Forth and standing in as Fort William in the show. This 15th century castle was once a royal residence and military fortress. Its distinctive shape has earned it the nickname 'Ship That Never Sailed'. After this journey back in time you will have some free time to enjoy lunch in the charming town of Linlithgow. Here you will also be able to take a stroll in the picturesque grounds of this once Royal Palace and military stronghold. Will you be able to recognise Wentworth Prison from the show?
After our lunch break in Linlithgow, we’ll move on to Doune Castle, where our guide will take you on a visit of this 14th century stronghold. Here you will be able to explore the old Kitchens, the Great Hall, the Duke of Albany’s private quarters, and the courtyard, where scenes from the Monty Python and the Holy Grail were filmed. Besides having been Castle Leoch in Outlander, you will surely recognise Doune as the backdrop for Game of Thrones and the more recent Outlaw King.
Finally, we will visit the picturesque village of Culross, a remarkably conserved medieval village that stands in for Cranesmuir in the show. Here you will enjoy some free time to explore the cobbled streets and visit the palace of Sir George Bruce, a 16th-century merchant's house that has been faithfully reconstructed, and the Mercat Cross, where Jamie and Claire attended the witch trial.
